You are encouraged to either make a general donation to OPS or indicate which fund your donation should support. Historic District Fund
The Ocracoke Preservation Society is determined to strengthen its efforts in preserving the historic district of Ocracoke.  In December of 2001, a "Historic District Home Tour" was held for the first time.  The success of this project enabled us to raise enough money to reduce the cost for commemorative plaques that can be placed on the outside of the contributing structures located in the Historic District, indicating the original name of the structure and the year of construction.

Collections Management Fund
The Museum has an extensive collection of artifacts.  We are in the process of identifying and documenting each item.  The money in this fund has purchased collection management software and computer equipment that will allow us to record the artifacts that we have in a more lasting manner.  This fund will also provide us the future option of digitizing our collection, and purchasing further items that fit our collection policy.

Building Fund
The Museum building, a contributing structure built ca. 1900 and listed in the Ocracoke Historic District, requires a great deal of financial resources to pay for its continuous upkeep.  In the spring of 2002, we repainted the outside of the home, and in 2003, we repaired the front porch roof. In 2007, we were able to do some much needed repairs to ten of the museum's windows, as well as painting in the hall and parlor. We have applied for grant funding to offset the cost, but your generous donations will guarantee our success.

Outdoor Exhibit Expansion
Funds our growing outdoor maritime display and storage building.

Save An Old Boat
We are working on preserving the historic Ocracoke fishing boat "Blanche", displayed on the museum grounds. In the future, we hope to obtain other historic boats.

Visual Arts
Each year, OPS sponsors exhibits of local artwork, donations, fund exhibits and preserve and stabilize the museums current art collection.

Land Trust Fund
Expenses related to monitoring easements are covered by this fund.
